Me and a friend made a coilgun for a schoolproject. This is a video of the LED voltage indicator. The circuit was made with a LM3914 10 channel linear led driver. I use a 4M7, 82k+10k Ohm resistor and a 1M variable resistor as voltage divider. This video was made with the 1M variable resistor at +/- 0 Ohms, so the max voltage indicated is about 280V Specs coilgun: 5.5 cm coil, 75 turns, 2 layers, 1.6mm copper wire 10500 uF 320V capacitor bank 1430A 1000V Thyristor SCR As charging resistor I use a 75 Watt lightbulb, so the charging happens very slow.
